The Line Weights setup window ( Fabricator Settings )

  • This window does not affect how graphic objects look in the Drawing Editor . It does affect the appearance of those same graphic objects (arcs, dimensions, lines, etc.) when they are printed or printed.
  • Pens 1 through 7 are used in the Drawing Editor to draw graphic entities (lines, labels, etc.) against what is, by default, a black background. To obtain easy-to-read shop drawings, the defaults for this window set all pens to black and with a range of pen widths.
  • Pen 0 is used for filling in 2D holes generated on drawings during auto detailing or by users manually adding the holes. It's display color is set using the " Filled hole pen color " under the " Pens " tab in Drawing Presentation .
  • Line Weights also affects Export PDF Drawings .

  To open Line Weights :

Method 1 : Home > Project Settings > Fabricator > Detailing > Line Weights .

Methods 2, 3 & 4 : In Modeling or the Drawing Editor , choose Settings > Fabricator Settings > Line Weights (classic), or use a keyboard shortcut , or click the icon.

Password protection: If a password has been set using the Change Setup Password utility, you can open this window only if you first enter that exact password.

   General instructions and examples :

  • The defaults on this window set all pen numbers to black with the range of line thicknesses shown on the table below. The Drawing Editor color white (pen ' 1 '), for instance, is used for dimension lines, and for this reason pen ' 1 ' is set to print very thin lines. Red is typically used in the Drawing Editor to represent material.

  • The pen ' 0 ' display color is set using the " Filled hole pen color " under the " Pens " tab in Drawing Presentation . Pen ' 0 ' is used for filling holes on drawings.
  • You don't have to set everything to black. You can use this window to set colors or various shades of gray as well as line thicknesses.
  • Setting colors is accomplished by defining a red value, a green value and a blue value for each drawing pen.
  • The color swatch for each pen number changes colors as you change mixtures of red, green and blue (e.g., black is 0 parts red, 0 parts green and 0 parts blue; red is defined as 255 parts red, 0 parts green and 0 parts blue; yellow is 255 parts red, 255 parts green and 0 parts blue).
  • The values that are entered to " Width " on the Line Weights window are measured in millimeters (e.g., 0.25 = 0.25 mm). Even if you are currently using ' Imperial ' dimensioning, they will still be measured in millimeters.
  • Example #1: Drawing Editor pen ' 2 ' is assigned on the Drawing Presentation window to be the default dimension label pen. On this window, pen 2 is designated to print in blue. As a result, dimension labels will be shown in red in the Drawing Editor , while the printer will print them as blue.
  • Example #2: The Drawing Editor pointer pen is assigned to be drawing pen ' 3 ', which means pointers in the Drawing Editor will be displayed as yellow. On this window, pen 3 is assigned a red value of 0, a green value of 0, a blue value of 0, and a width of 0.7 mm. As a consequence, pointers will be printed as black lines with a width of 0.7 mm.

   To close Line Weights :

   

"OK" (or the Enter key) closes the Line Weights window and saves the settings on it to the current Fabricator that is currently loaded in your current Job . To change to a different Fabricator , Home > press "fabname" > double-click the Fabricator you want.

"Cancel" (or the Esc key or the button) closes this window without saving any of the changes you have made to it.

"Reset" undoes all changes made to this window since you opened it. The window remains open.
